Plant stabilisation is a specialised conservation process in which fresh plants (flowers, leaves, mosses, or entire branches) are treated so that they maintain their natural appearance, colour, and flexibility for a long time – without the need for water, light, or any special care.
During stabilisation, the plant's natural sap is replaced with a special solution based on glycerin and other substances. This solution penetrates the plant tissues, keeping them soft, pliable, and visually almost indistinguishable from a living plant. Unlike traditional drying, which can cause brittleness or fading, stabilisation preserves the natural structure and richness of colour.
Main benefits of plant stabilisation:
long lifespan (months to years without maintenance),
preservation of authentic beauty and texture,
no need for watering, sunlight, or soil,
an environmentally friendly alternative to fresh cut flowers.
They are often used in interior design (e.g., moss frames, stabilised bouquets, decorations for offices and hotels), in wedding arrangements, or as unique gifts.
