Origin and processing
Setaria italica is one of the oldest cultivated grasses in human history. Its history dates back over 8,000 years to northern China, where it was an important food and ritual plant. Through the Silk Road, it spread to Europe, where it was cultivated for grain, fodder, and decorative purposes.
For floral arrangement use, it is harvested at its optimal maturity stage – when the seed heads are full, firm, and have uniform density. It is dried naturally in the shade, preserving its softness and characteristic cylindrical structure.
Bleaching is done gently to preserve the setaria's softness and shape without damage. The resulting shade is pure, light, and stable, suitable for professional floristry and interior design.
Care and maintenance
