Dried poppy heads (Papaver somniferum) are among the most used natural decorative fruits. Their firm shell and characteristic spherical shape make them ideal for a wide range of floral design projects. They excel in Christmas wreaths, winter arrangements, advent decorations, natural ikebanas, or seasonal table centerpieces. They combine wonderfully with pine cones, cotton plants, dried ears of wheat, lotus pods, or poppy heads in other sizes to create rich natural compositions.
Thanks to their neutral brown tone, they support a natural, rustic, and vintage aesthetic. If you want to use poppy heads to decorate gifts, simply attach them with jute twine. You can also use them in creating wedding decorations, natural arrangements, or minimalist wabi-sabi style decorations.
Care and maintenance
Dried poppy heads are low-maintenance. We recommend storing them in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, to preserve their natural color. They do not belong in humid environments or outdoors during winter or rainy days. They are firm when handled, but prolonged pressure can cause the shell to crack. If dust appears on the surface, gently blow it off with cool air from a hairdryer.
