Natural fibers such as decorative raffia, sisal, and coconut fiber are an indispensable part of floral equipment, handmade workshops, and stylish product packaging. Raffia is popular for its flexibility and availability in multiple colors, it ties and holds its shape excellently – making it ideal for floral arrangements, wedding decorations, or natural gift wrapping. Sisal is finer, airy, and easily shaped into fillings for gift baskets, vases, or small baskets, adding volume to decorations. Coconut fiber, on the other hand, impresses with its texture – it is firmer, suitable as a natural base for arrangements, in flower pots, or for ecological packaging.
Interestingly, sisal fiber is produced from the leaves of the agave sisalana, making it a 100% biodegradable material. Coconut fiber is created by processing the outer husk of the coconut – it is also used in gardening as mulch or substrate. When working with sisal, we recommend gently stretching the fibers first to achieve maximum volume with minimal quantity. Raffia ties best in its natural state without moistening, while coconut fiber can be trimmed with scissors to the desired length.
All these natural materials can be easily glued using a hot melt (glue) gun, which makes them ideal for creating decorations that require firm fixation – for example, when making wreaths, wall arrangements, or decorating gifts.
